The Society was founded for promoting the cause of Quality Education, by Dr T. R. Paarivendhar, an Academician and Educationist. The SRM Group runs a network of more than 27 Institutions and is one of the largest educational groups in the country.

- TRP Engineering College, Trichy, Affiliated to the Anna University.
- Inter-Disciplinary School of Indian System of Medicine.
- Launch of Chennai Medical College, Trichy.
- Launch of SRM Community Radio.
- SRM Kattankuthur Dental College was started under the ambit of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University).
