The Department of Management Studies of SRM Trichy Arts and Science college organized a Guest Lecture on 19.09.2024 titled “Importance of Skill and Competency”. Dr. G. Senthilkumar, Principal of SRM Trichy Arts and Science College, Dr. G. Ilango, Vice-Principal (Admin) and Dr. S. Fabiyola Kavitha, Vice-Principal (Academic), delivered felicitation addresses. Mr. J. Dhanapal, Senior Associate Lead – BPHR, InfosysBPM Pvt Ltd served as resource person. The resource person emphasized the pivotal role of skills and competencies play in the contemporary job market. He gave focus on critical thinking, problem solving adaptability, and leadership skills. The presentation included clear definitions – skills as the abilities acquired through education and practice, competencies as the integration of skills, knowledge and behaviors that empower individuals to perform tasks effectively. The speaker highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals across various sectors.  It was noted that employers increasingly prioritize competencies over formal qualifications, seeking candidates who can adapt, solve problems and collaborate effectively within teams. The importance of effective verbal and written communication in the workplace was emphasized. The speaker highlighted how clear communication fosters collaboration and reduces misunderstandings. The session concluded with an engaging Q & A session. The association president Ms.Hemsauntharya of III BBA, and P.Navin of III BBA hosted the event.
