National Handloom Day

On the eve of National Handloom Day, the Campus Life wing of SRM Trichy Arts & Science College organized a speech competition on the theme ‘Kathar Aadaiyin Magimai’ on August 7th 2024, at the SRM Library.  The event was facilitated by Vice Principal Administration Dr. G. Ilango, who emphasized the importance of supporting Indian weavers by purchasing their weaving goods. Eleven students from SRM Trichy Arts & Science College actively participated in the competition. Dr. C. Muthalagu, Assistant Professor of Tamil, served as the judge and evaluated the participants’ speeches, selecting the top three winners. The event was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the efforts of the Campus Life team. The event was coordinated by Dr. P. Kalaiyarasi and convened by Ms. S. Punithavathi. The speech competition aimed to promote awareness and appreciation for India’s rich handloom heritage and the importance of supporting local weavers.
