Unlocking Language Potential with Artificial Intelligence in NLP

The Cybernaut Club of the Department of Computer Science, Computer Applications, and AI & ML at SRM Trichy Arts and Science College hosted a guest lecture titled “Unlocking Language Potential with Artificial Intelligence in NLP” on October 3rd, 2024.  The event was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the crucial role machines play in interacting with human language, highlighting how AI-driven advancements in NLP make communication more intuitive, responsive, and accessible.

The session was opened with a Presidential address by Dr. G. Senthilkumar, the Principal, accompanied by Dr. G. Ilango, Vice-Principal (Administration). Mr. N.S. Ismail, Managing Director and Career Coach at T4TEQ Software Solutions, Trichy, served as the Resource Person and delivered a captivating presentation. His talk encompassed a range of topics, including the significance of NLP in the modern world, its various applications, and the use of Python for NLP with the Natural Language Toolkit (NLTK).

The session saw strong participation, with around 120 final-year students from B.Sc. (Computer Science) and BCA actively engaging in the event. Mr. N. Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor, served as the convenor of the guest lecture, with support from other department staff who ensured all necessary arrangements were in place. Dr. P. Thangavel, Head of the Department, offered invaluable support throughout the session, ensuring it concluded on a positive note.
