The glorious history of SRM Group of Institutions started before 50 years with the establishment of SRM Nightingale Primary School, Chennai in 1969.  Today, after having completed half a century of its remarkable academic service, SRM has established the largest educational conglomerate in India which includes school education, polytechnic education, Medical, Dental, Engineering, Management and Science & Humanities.  SRM University and SRM group of Institutions are catering to the higher educational needs of the younger generation across India. The group has widespread its institutions in Chennai, Trichy, Amravati-AP, Haryana and Delhi.

SRM Trichy Campus was established in 2007. This campus is consisting of a Medical College, an Engineering College, an Institute of Hotel Management, and Institute of Allied Health Sciences, a College of Nursing and the SRM Trichy Arts and Science College.  The SRM Trichy Campus has been flourishing under the able administration of Dr R. Shivakumar, Chairman of Trichy and Ramapuram Campuses.

The SRM Trichy Arts and Science College was established in the academic year 2018-2019 with six academic programs at the undergraduate level: B.Com, BBA, B.Sc. (CS), BCA, B.Sc. (Maths), and B.Sc. (HMCS).  In the academic year 2019-20 two more programmes B.Com. (Computer Applications) and BA (English) was introduced.  The Arts and Science College is functioning in a state of the arts building with excellent infrastructure facilities that include a Central Library with good numbers of volumes and subscription to the latest journals and magazines, a modern Computer Laboratory with adequate systems of latest configuration and licenced software, full-fledged catering science laboratory and front office training division, highly experienced & committed faculty team with doctorates and proven qualities, high-speed WIFI connectivity and fully furnished hostels for boys and girls separately.  The institution has evolved an excellent system for the program delivery which aims at not only delivering the university syllabi but also developing the overall competency of the students.  One of the unique features of SRM Trichy Arts and Science College is its value-added training (VAT) sessions.  The VAT sessions are incorporated in the regular schedule itself and are conducted on a daily basis.  Communication Training, Aptitude training, Student Presentation Sessions, Group Discussions (GD), News and Journal Review, enhancing computer proficiency, coaching for competitive examinations are the modules delivered at present, during the VAT sessions.
