Farewell to Phobia in English

The Department of English organized a workshop on Farewell to Phobia in English. The programme was conducted exclusively for the first-year students of SRM Trichy Arts and Science College. The workshop was scheduled on 12th July 2023 between 9.30 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Hall, SRM Medical College. The Principal, Dr. D. Francis Xavier Christoper, and the Vice-Principal (Administration), Dr. G. Ilango, presided over the workshop. The Principal appreciated and encouraged the innovative ideas initiated by the department for the welfare of the students. The Vice Principal (Administration) presented an introductory note on the Phobias. Dean of Academic & Research, Dr. R. Krishnamoorthy, gave a meticulous speech on academic research and the nuances of writing a research article. He further motivated the first-year students to begin their research. Third-year students who participated in India Malaysia International Immersion Internship Programme addressed the students and shared their international academic exploration and made them enthusiastic to participate in future programmes. The session was then taken over by the convenor & the resource person, Ms. W. Rini Valentina, Assistant Professor of English. She spoke on the fear of the students towards learning a foreign language. She also concentrated more on easing students’ mindset of being hesitant to speak in English. Dr. B. Thavaseelan, Assistant Professor of English, concluded the workshop by discussing the LSRW skills and their importance in excelling the Language.
